My Wines Direct has chosen a deliciuous wine to highlight from
Fance.Chateau de Serame Corbieres 2005. The Corbières region in
Southern France is devoted to Carignan, a rich, powerful grape
that generally flies under the radar. Why? Because its density
and tannins means it needs to be blended with other grapes like
Grenache and Syrah, so its name rarely reaches the front
label. However, when the grapes come together, they can
produce balanced wines that keep that power but add in
smoothness and aroma. The Château de Serame has a core
of black plum, blackberry, and earthy aromas, offset by
notes of black pepper and licorice. It’s full-bodied,
with firm tannins and good length.
Simply delicious fleshy, juicy fruit with spicy, black
pepper. Syrah and Grenache combine to produce wine of
typical southern French style with lots of sun and herbs
thrown in. Try it with roast chicken and rosemary.
