Chianti by Ruffino
Chianti has a long history for this winery. In fact, it was first produced by the founders, Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino at the beginning of the twentieth century. Their brand even became the benchmark for this entire category of wine for over a century! This red, has traditionally known for its characteristic straw bottle, shaped like the goatskin wine containers used in the Middle Ages. This winery updated this beverage's image world wide in 1975, when they replaced this traditional flask with a refined Florentine bottle. This red wine has a ruby red color and aromas that combine sweet violets along with red berries and cherries. It is made from the grape varietals, Sangiovese, from wine growing regions in Italy and harvested in October. The finish has a slightly spicy scent of white pepper and hazelnuts. It is a dry and medium-bodied red with refreshing acidity. This drink can be paired beautifully with traditional Italian dishes, chicken or pork.
