The Robert Mondavi Winery has been in existence for over 40
years, producing some of the world's finest wines.
It is located in the Napa Valley, at 7801 St. Helena Highway,
Oakland California, 94558.
The winery itself is a definite tourist destination, with the
architecture of Cliff May reflecting the missions of early
California. They also have an extensive art collection well
worth viewing, as you sip some of their best vintages.
Mondavi wines is committed to both education and the arts, and
beginning in 1967, he established a program for tours and
tastings to enhance the visitors' understanding of fine wine.
I found this quote from Mondavi's autobiography. I believe it
gives us some sense of the man's committment to life and wine.
"WINE TO ME IS PASSION. IT'S FAMILY AND FRIENDS. IT'S WARMTH
OF HEART AND GENEROSITY OF SPIRIT. WINE IS ART. IT'S
CULTURE. IT'S THE ESSENCE OF CIVILIZATION AND THE ART OF LIVING."

Robert Mondavi 'Private Selection' Chardonnay 2005 - A Review
This is a delicious rich white wine, pale straw in color. It
is a medium to full bodied wine with a smooth texture. You
will note the flavors of peach, tropical fruit, coconut and
vanilla. This sounds so sweet, but it actually isn't. This
Chardonnay is a versatile wine that goes well with roast
chicken and grilled salmon. At approximately $20 for a 750ml
bottle, it is great value in a world class wine.
Robert Mondavi Pinot Noir 2006 - A Review
Don't be fooled by the light color of this red wine. Its
flavors of cherry are intense, with a definite spiciness
and hint of black licorice. This is a bright and vivacious
wine.
When you purchase this 750 ml bottle at approximately $27.00,
plan to serve it with veal or lamb chops for a delicious meal.
The following is a blog entry we did for the passing of Robert Mondavi on the day of his passsing away.
