Ten Wine Tour Tips

TOUR TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL WINE TASTING TOUR

When you are planning to take a wine tasting tour, we would urge you to consider the following tips. Hopefully they will make your trip more enjoyable and relaxing.

1. Perhaps the most important tip is to have a designated driver, whether a member of your party or a hired chauffeur. (Ontario Law limits you to 4 ounces of wine at each winery you visit.)

2. Plan to visit no more than 4 or 5 wineries each day.

3. Make sure to eat prior to starting your tasting tour. Food helps to metabolize the wine.

4. Don't wear perfume, as this could interfere with your sense of the bouquet of the wine.

5. Chewing gum affects the taste of the wine as does chewing on mints or candy. Avoid this!

6. It is not necessary to drink every ounce that is poured for you. The wineries provide buckets where you can spit wine.

7. Some of the wines you will be tasting are only available at the winery. Be sure to bring a cooler, if you plan to purchase any.

8. Ask questions. The staff at the wineries are well informed and can answer all of your queries. Take this opportunity to learn as much as you can.

9. Make a record of wines and wineries that you enjoy. A simple notebook is all you need, but if an electronic device is your preference, that is OK too!

10. Don't rush. Take time to enjoy the ambiance of your surroundings.
